Carrot is supporting Caterpillar in the launch of the Building the Future Workforce Challenge, a $5 million global competition designed to strengthen the advanced manufacturing and technician workforce through bold, tech-forward solutions.
The Building the Future Workforce Challenge, operated by Carrot, is part of Caterpillar’s broader $100 million Building the Future Workforce Initiative, a five-year commitment to address evolving workforce needs and close critical skills gaps across industries.
As technology continues to reshape manufacturing and technical roles, the Challenge invites organizations from around the world to propose new approaches to training, workforce development, and career pathway creation. Up to five teams will receive $1 million each to implement scalable solutions over a two-year period.
Winning teams will have the opportunity to pilot their solutions within Caterpillar facilities and communities, creating a pathway for real-world testing, refinement, and long-term impact.
Carrot is operating the Challenge and providing full program delivery, including program design, program development, program management, and the Carrot Platform to ensure an open, transparent, and fair process.
The Challenge is open to nonprofits, companies, universities, and educational institutions, with solutions focused on:
Eligible teams must demonstrate the ability to implement their solutions in the United States, Brazil, India, or Mexico.
